About

Free inflation calculators for 188 countries, built on published CPI data.

What this is

Inflation Calculator Pro answers one question for 188 countries: what an amount of money from a past year is worth in today's prices. Every calculator is free, needs no account, and works without JavaScript — the figures are rendered into each page rather than fetched when you arrive.

Behind them sits 11,354 country-years of consumer price index data from the World Bank, the IMF and the Jordà-Schularick-Taylor Macrohistory Database. How it is sourced and calculated is written out in full, including what the figures do not account for.

Why it exists

Most inflation calculators cover one country. Historical amounts turn up in contexts that are rarely one country at a time — a salary from a decade abroad, a price in an old novel, a family story about what a house cost. Putting 188 currencies on one consistent basis, with the full series visible rather than a single answer, makes those comparable.

The app

The mobile app covers more than 150 currencies with offline access, saved calculations and charts. It shares this site's data: the same CPI files published here are what the app reads, so the two never disagree.

Independence

This site is not affiliated with the World Bank, the IMF, any central bank or any national statistics agency. It republishes their data and is responsible for its own presentation of it.

Figures are provided for general information. They are not financial advice, and they are not a substitute for a figure from the relevant statistics agency where one is needed for a legal, contractual or official purpose.
